After a very long delay before releasing the Diebold results due to a “voting machine malfunction“, Ron Paul came in 5th place with 1,305 votes.
Keep in mind the person charged with oversight of this poll is none other than one of Mitt Romney’s paid staffers, Mary Mosiman, who just happens to be the County Auditor. Convenient.
Also noteworthy is the fact that one of Romney’s key fundraisers was recently indicted for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury and obstruction of justice. So the idea of his campaign conducting fraud is not out of the question.
All this comes after the Iowa GOP’s decision to demand $184,000 from Ron Paul’s campaign if any sort of verification of the vote was requested, which amounts to nothing less than extortion.
Folks, this is what anyone that wishes to take on the trillion dollar industry called the federal government faces. They will stop at nothing to make sure the idea of freedom and less government does not progress; including lies, fraud, vote tampering and whatever else is necessary.
There are many huge corporations, owned by the same folks that own companies such as Diebold and the “mainstream” media, that have a very large amount of money at stake if government spending were to be reduced. Their livelihoods depend on money stolen from you and given to them by bureaucrats and politicians that are easier to buy than a street hooker.

I am very frustrated right now. Ron Paul’s campaign really needs to address this head on. I hear people are happy with his showing, what? Are you in a dream world? 5th place is for losers and Ron Paul is NOT a loser.
He should have done better than 5th in my opinion. There were so many ways they could have changed the votes, it’s unreal. And in a sick way they are getting rewarded for messing up the vote by charging $184,000 for a recount. Total bull.
Why the conspiracy theories, the unfounded connections and more? Ron Paul’s coming in 5th was very respectable considering the campaign bought only the minimum 800 tickets, had no organized buses, did not feed anybody BBQ, and was in Iowa for only 1 WEEK prior to the straw poll!!! You should be happy he did so well, not blogging about voter fraud. It is not helpful or conducive to furthering his campaign. It only tarnishes his reputation as someone connected to conspiracy theorists which the vast majority of American voters do no want to be associated with and we need their votes. So SHUT UP!!!
In spite of so called “scientific” polls giving Ron Paul one or two percent, he managed to place a respectable fifth with almost 30% as many votes as big spender Romney!
How well might he have done if he had been able to buy as many bus tickets and as much advertising as Romney did?
And if McCain and Giuliani had been in the poll, taking votes away from Romney, Huckabee, Brownback, and Tancredo but not away from Paul, then he would probably have placed second, and possibly even first.
This was a fantastic day for the Ron Paul campaign, and we still have half a year to continue getting his name and message out there.
Speaking of conspiracies, could the absence of two out of the three “top tier” candidates have been a deliberate, coordinated ploy to try and make a problematic challenger like Paul look worse than he would have looked if the front-runner vote had been split three ways?
Since Ames doesn’t count, none of the media-annointed triumvirate would lose anything. But they would be guaranteed to avoid the embarrassment of a Ron Paul intrusion into their “top tier” space. Thus this annoying people-annointed candidate would appear marginalized, thus giving them more ammunition to force him out of future debates.
Richard – interesting possibility, for sure.
Did they really say it would cost $184,000 for a recount? I’d love to see a good source on that as I haven’t seen one. That doesn’t seem right at being almost $13 a vote. I’d do it for $10, call me anytime. Something does smell fishy, but I think they are wanting RP supporters to make some sort of fuss, so I think they might have to take this one on the chin. If that 184,000 number really is legit, seems like they could be taunting a little as well. The famous Florida recount in the Bush/Gore election was 184,000 ballots. I’m sure that’s just a coincidence, but it’s funny they both deal with shoddy Diebold equipment. We need to just go back to paper in the real elections, with lots of watchers.
WELL, LOOKS LIKE THE FIX IS ALREADY IN. ROMNEY IS A PLASTIC MAN, HEARTLESS, GUTLESS CORPORATE MAN. THE RIGHT WING WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO HOLD ONTO THE WHITE HOUSE. BUSH STOLE THE 1ST ELECTION, THEN SCARED VOTERS INTO ELECTING HIM AGAIN. THIS COUNTRY IS IN DIRE STRAITS. WHY THE RUSH TO WAR IN IRAQ? FOLLOW THE MONEY…IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. THE REAL WAR WAS IN A-STAN. IM THINKING OBL IS DEAD. THEY KNOW, BUT WON’T SAY. THE MOSLEM THREAT IS VERY REAL. WHY DO THEY GIVE P-STAN OVER 1 BILLION PER YEAR TO FIGHT AQ, T-BAN, AND THEN LITERALLY CEDE THE BORDER PROVINCES TO THEM? WE ARE ON A BUS RIDE, AND BUSH&CO PUT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC ON IT. VOTE DEMOCRAT-THE LESSER OF 2 EVILS. REMEMBER, YOU CAN’T FIGHT CITY HALL-BUT YOU CAN BURN IT DOWN. HOLD ONTO UR GUNS, ARM URSELVES, COZ ANOTHER REVOLUTION MAY BE WAT WE NEED.
Hey RHYNO, I’m with Ya, So are a lot of others around here that are sick and tired of Government Stupidity! Ron Paul may be the only way around it!
The Republican Party Leadership wants a canidate that:
– Rewards those who Contribute Money to the GOP that pays thier salories and benifits.
The GOP Leadership looks at the US Consitution as a problem blocking thier agenda.
The point is…we should not have to feed people BBQ or charter a bus to prove ourselves as Ron Paul supporters. It’s not about BIG MONEY and this is not politics as usual. It’s about time people wake up and support what is right or We The People will loose everything that remains. This is a grassroots operation and for a change people are starting to wake up to the facts of THIS life in THIS country. The American People ARE waking up and this talk about Conspiracy Theory…well those who think it’s bull should open up their minds and allow new information to come in. WE are getting ready for a BIG change in this country and it will happen regardless if people are ready for it or not. It’s better to be informed verse not. It’s the dark verses the light…the bad verses the good…the lies verses the truth…and the truth ALWAYS wins…ALWAYS!!! Ron Paul is the truth and the light.

This ‘poll result’ shouldn’t surprise anyone. Although I am completely opposed of Ron Paul’s politics, I feel some sympathy and can relate (as a former Nader campaigner)to the feelings of commentators above. It’s a shame Ron Paul will never be the Republican Party nominee, no matter how much conservative grass roots support he has. Primary election process is designed to disempower grass roots political activists from participating in the nominating process of every political party (including the Green Party). The primary elections are the point of convergence between corrupt political party officials, their corporate bosses corrupt pollsters, ‘political professionals’ and the media. This is where the McCain, Dean and Paul types are set up and taken down. That’s what primary elections are all about folks. Only candidates that ‘play ball’ make it to general elections. American elections have been completely corrupt during my lifetime – I am in my 40’s. I see no light at the end of this tunnel. God save America!
Mr Paul needs our support he can not do this alone. We the people need to rally behind this man at all cost. And although there are plenty of others who may disagree with Mr. Paul’s politics, his fundamental belief, as I see it, is to restore our once constitutional republic back to it’s former glory. And I for one have no problem with that. Conspiracy theories set aside it is quite apparent that our now socialist democracy is bloated, dysfunctional, and corrupt at every level, not to mention unconstitutional. The powers of government are well defined in our constitution there are no provisions for a fema, epa, hsa, irs, fda, doe, get my point. Any new power granted to government should be by constitutional amendment or retained by the states or the people. And that is the law of the land my friends. Again I say Mr. Paul cannot do this alone, the power mongrels that are in control will not allow such a person to make it to the presidency, but I say screw them. I propose a million man march on D.C..( peacefull of course ) Are there enough of us willing to go to such extremes. Is not our government by the people for the people. I ask who controls who. Mr. Paul I ask you to name the date. sign me up! It maybe the only way.
My friends, writing from Canada, I am filled with joy to see such an examplary politician speak his respects for people so beautifully and steadfastly. It is an amazing thing. I am of the personal belief that a government is a reflection of the people, and not there to pass the blame onto; for when the people truly want change, it inevitably becomes. The same goes for any country, Ron is a global example. Indeed, some people need to recall the power of ONE when it comes to anything, especially voting. I also encourage peaceful change at all times; those who are doing the ill-will need no further lesson in it. Instead they need the most examples of good behavior and forgiveness as is possible. We can all use good teachers, and Ron Paul is good teacher. It is no wonder a certain select few are running away wild, irresponsibly with power; they need gentle reminding that if the intent is not good for everyone then its not good for anyone. Should it come to a peaceful protest of what the people really want, I should hope to raise myself to such a march, to the rhythmic pace of freedom. When the legitimacy of paper and machines are truly in the heart’s doubt, a unified lifting of voices should be enough to sound the record straight. Let freedom be heard if it is in the interest of all. Learning to live life well sets an example for others to emulate, and those who succeed inspire us on further. Regardless of Ron Paul’s election outcomes, he has already inspired something powerful in many people, because of his courage, there will be many more like him. We are witnessing how far a compassionate idea resonates with people when its for the people. And, while money is able to reach just as many people as compassion, compassion will forever reach greater depths within every individual. It is the principle of cause and effect, I can only conclude remarking how amazing America’s people are in that the reflection of Ron Paul is rising out of them and shining back.
