Hi Disinter
You left a comment on a recent post about global warming on my blog.
I haven’t published it, not because I can’t accept that there are alternative views on whether global warming actually exists or not and, if it does, what the causes may be, but because it’s not actually a comment; it’s just a link to the list above of various global warm scepticism stories.
Needless to say, I still think global warming exists and that it is largely (although not necessarily exclusively) man-made. Although any decent group of scientists will rarely agree completely with each other, the vast majority of experts agree that global warming is a fact and that the major contributors to it are man-made emissions.
And, even if you don’t believe it, are you really willing to take a chance on being wrong?
I, for one, am willing to take a chance, considering I and the general public are about to be taxed to death because of it. Call it global warming, climate change, religion, whatever — it is nothing more then a mechanism to transfer wealth from one group of individuals (regular folk here in America) to another group of individuals (I’ll leave it to your imagination).
Additionally, there is not a a “vast majority” of experts that agree global warming is a fact. I suspect, in fact, that there is a vast majority that DISAGREE with global warming.
It makes absolutely NO SENSE to pass a law like cap and trade here in the USA while India, China and Russia continue doing what they are doing. Their industrial output will far outweigh ours in the near future, especially if we pull back what’s left of our productive capacity as firms move from the USA to China, India, et. al. to continue business as usual. All Cap and Trade and other soon to come global warming regulations will simply shift the problem to other countries. For shits and giggles, let’s say man-made global warming actually exists.. do you, weayaya, actually think that restrictive legislation in the USA will have any real effect on the globe as a whole, as businesses shift operations somewhere else?
And if you are thinking — “We’ll lead the way and convince the other countries to do it too” — you are sadly mistaken. The Chinese and Indians could give a crap about global warming. They see it for what it is — a political tool and nothing else.
You are essentially crucifying the American Economy, and subsequently, every single working American. Laws, policies and regulations like cap and trade will destroy America as we know it today. This is not conjecture or speculation, but fact. Capital will flee this country to Asia and India, and our middle class will morph into the lower class. But hey, at least everyone will get to drive a Smart Car, right?

Being from Alaska, I have seen first hand the effects of global warming. I have witnessed glaciers calve off in monumental proportions.
In fact, I found a disturbing, yet spectacular movie that shows global warming footage of calving glaciers. Huge chunks of ice breaking off into the ocean! You can find this film called “Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience” on Film Baby HERE:
http://www.filmbaby.com/films/4148
I highly recommend buying Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience. Watch the glaciers disappear before your eyes and show your friends and family what is really going on in Alaska.
Hi, Disinter!:)
I was researching about global warming and found your blog
I wrote a post on one of the articles that you linked on your blog. Hope that’s cool:)
Thanks 4 the nice blog.
Even letting the debate continue, when our species may hang in the balance, says something about us. I argue that there is a certain presumptuousness surrounding our approach to how we are addressing global warming that goes well beyond simply having a short-term perspective. What if the cockroach has a more sustainable position? I recommend the following post: http://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/11/05/climatic-presumption-what-is-the-forecast/
