This is why the public view law enforcement in this light. Officers are trained with different forms and techniques to handle these type of situations. This was uncalled for. They had the advantage in skill,size,training,weight class, number of personel, and closed in quarters. If they could control her enough to bring her to jail, they could control her enough in jail. I had watched this video about 10 times now. I am so disgusted and furious that a cop would literally assault a 15 year old girl. “What was he thinking?”- To not have the common sense to know that a teenage girl will act out verbally, and have no thought about her actions taking place at the moment. But how as an ADULT and a COP could he not think about his own actions. There was no justice from a shoe being kicked off at, for a cop to intentionally kick, punch, and slam some one’s head against a wall.
There are some good cops out there, some where out there. Lately, all I have seen are cops abuse their power given to them. Example, this video right here shows that cops will cross the line, the messed up part, the other officer in the room did nothing to stop his fellow officer from sucker punching a little teenage girl, who at that point was defenseless.
It doesn’t seem to matter, because unlike us REGULAR CIVILIANS, if we were to talk on our cell phones while driving, or do 70mph in a 50, or run a red light, we get ticketed and fined. But I always see cops talking on their cell phone, and I see them speed when their lights are off. I even watch one cop stop at a red light for 1 second, saw no cars and run it. While I had to wait for the light to turn green rather or not there were no cars. That little bit that cops abuse, they would say really is not an issue, has no importance. They don’t realize, that it becomes a habit and they still continue to attempted to cross the line. Those little things I have just mentioned are just the steps they take up to the line. “What happens when they do cross it?”
Incidents like this happen, which could of been avoided. Still, us REGULAR CIVILIANS, know what happens when we cross the line. “What happens when a cop crosses the line?” “You think it is justice when a cop tries to weigh the Good and the Wrong he has ever done?”- Because of that a cop will never get a fair punishment for his own actions which could have been prevented. Cops look at it, well this fellow officer took ONE wrong option, but he has done so many good things, we should give him a break, right? Like I said, I watched the video about 10 times. That cop did not take ONE wrong option in handling the situation, that cop took FIVE. That cop did not have to kick her, that cop did not have to through her head against the wall, that cop did not have to punch her, not just once but twice, and that cop did not have to handle her by her hair. “What the HELL was he thinking?”
Think about it, compare them. An Adult against a Teenager. A Man against a Girl. A suppose highly trained officer against a regular civilian. An all he might get is a year in jail, if that, and stripped from his duties. But if a regular civilian man beat up a regular teenage girl, you know that man would be locked up away in jail so fast and spend a few years in there for assaulting a minor.
No matter if someone were to tell me, you need to hear and understand both sides of the story in order to truly speak your mind on the situation. To be honest, I don’t need to. I didn’t even need to hear the interview with the 15 year old girl. That video spook louder then words. There was no justice in that video, no matter how many time you try to adjust it. As I sit trying to find a way to tell my story and believe when I say this I have tried so many times for someone to please listen to the injustice that I have received.
On the morning of September 27, 2002 I was severely injured by a Pa State Trooper that, I was dating at the time of this horrible abuse. That morning will live with me for the rest of my life and the memory of the abuse will always live with me. Many women like me who have been abused realize that domestic violence is a life time of healing and with all the horrible abuse that has surffest with the Rihanna and Chris Brown and with two women here in Philadelphia, PA were murdered by there boyfriends. It has saddened so many of us.
Our news media calls it an incident or a disturbance but my group sisters and I call it what it really is and that’s Domestic Violence.
I begged for help, I begged to be taken to the hospital and he refused and he left me in the middle of the road bleeding. I was treated like an animal.
This horrible abuse caused me to have retinal detachment from the left eye and has left me in fear for years until now.
I waited for two weeks for Internal Affairs to do there investigation and I must say I was not happy with the reception that I received from the two corporals that interviewed me… Until this very day, I remember how the Corporal had said he found, so hard to believe that trooper “S” would leave me in the middle of the road because, he’s known him for 15 years.
Yes I was left in the middle of the road bleeding from my head begging for help. My god, I don’t know how I made it back to my place of resident but I did and I felt with the grace of god, I am one of the lucky ones. Not many of us can say this, but those who are left behind are left with nightmares of the abuse that we sustained.
I followed every procedure in the law to receive my protection order from abuse. I was granted my order from the Lancaster Courts and our hearings were postponed on two separate occasions and I found it unusual that, the Corporal that interview me in regards to this abuse would attend my hearings.
At first I thought maybe he was protecting me and I thought I would be safe but sadly, I was wrong. On November 7, 2002 my order from protection from abuse was dismissed without prejudice. I was horrified and I could not believe my ears. I sat there in a room with several other people who were strangers to me just crying. I was alone, I was represented my attorney from Women Against Abuse and by the look on her face I could tell that something horribly went wrong. Did she feel this was unfair?
On December 27, 2002, I received a letter from the attorney stating that they had put the trooper on notice not to call or come near my place of resident. Now, this just made me more confused, if you put him on notice then, why didn’t you fight for my protection so I would be able to receive my order.
For several months I waited for the outcome of the investigation from Internal Affairs and the results was that, they blamed me for my own injuries and it was he say she say. I remember how I sat and cried and I could not believe that this was happening. My fears were real and who was I just another female abused physically by her lover and left like an animal in the middle of the road.
My conversation with the commander was on February 9, 2003 and on that same day I gathered myself and wrote to my Governor and I quote “I believe there is a cover up within the State Police”. I wrote to Governor and told him exactly what happen to me. I never received a response from the Governor’s Office
On September 27, 2004 my attorney filed civil violation suit against Pa State Police and against the trooper the injured me with the State Police car. For three years, motion after motion, dismissal after dismissal was filed. On June 8, 2007 the federal judge ruled that the trooper was liable for the injuries that I received. What horrifies me more then anything that, this trooper was never brought up on charges. The Police did not charge him, the PA State Police did not charge him or disciplined him, or even reprimanded him nothing, seven years passed and this trooper was able to retire from his position as a PA State Trooper at the age of 48.
For years I lived in fear, not knowing if he was going to come after me. I reached out to an advocate from Illinois who happen to have a web site called Abuse of Power. With her encouragement, I reached to a Women In in Philadelphia, PA and with the help of my supporters and group sisters I have empowered myself and I will be victorious. I am no longer afraid and I believe that some how or some way I will be heard and I will receive my justice.
The state trooper gave his deposition on September 30, 2008, until this day the PA State Attorney General has not scheduled my deposition. Many times my attorney will tell me that, it is not up to him to depose me but it is up to the State Attorney General Office.
Domestic Violence is an epidemic that is out of control and many more will suffer. Many more people must be educated when it involves victims and survivors of domestic violence.
I am not sure if my story will go on def ears but I felt that I needed to tell what happened to me.
