Do I support the Libertarian Party even though I do not support the candidate? That goes against my principles. Do I choose any other third party to send a message? Again, that goes against my principles. I choose not to vote against people but to vote for them. Therefore, I am left with the decision to write in the name Ron Paul. I think he would make a great President. I know my vote will not count as a vote for Dr. Paul, but it will be counted in the generic category of “write-ins.” When they show the total of people in my state who do not like the choices they were given I will be among them. And that is the message I truly want to send with my vote. I do not accept your chosen few. I am an American and as so I believe I have the right to vote for whom I choose.
Perhaps if enough people also wrote-in their vote, these draconian write-in laws will be removed.
I thought about not voting at all because I do not want to legitimize the system, but those non-votes are simply seen as apathy. I am not apathetic. I am passionate: Extremely passionate for liberty.
So this election, I will be making a statement. I will vote for the man I believe to be the best candidate, I will do my best to expose a corrupt system that prevents most of us from making a real choice, and I will sleep well. If you feel the same way, I ask you to join me. Even writing in “none of the above” sends a message. I ask you to think about the message you wish to send with your vote. If you want change then change.
That is exactly what I am going to do.

PLEASE! You need to discern the difference between making a statement and making a difference. Squeaky Fromme made a statement but it was a stupid waste of her freedom that backfired and ruined her life. Making a statement in this presidential election makes you a fool and you may pay dearly for throwing away your vote. Sorry pal, but you need to wake up and smell reality.
Calm down, revtj. Some people are just tired of choosing the lesser of two evils.
revtj, making a statement IS making a difference. What kind of difference is there in voting for one of the two major parties when such an act ultimately leads to the same thing?
Sorry, pal, but I think it’s you that needs waking up.
The only wasted vote is a vote for Obama or McCain and expecting change. The AIG debacle is the result of bipartisan failure. Why would anybody vote for McCain or Obama when neither have addressed the monster under the bed called the Federal Debt?
Me too. (Found you searching for Ron Paul, write in)
I’ve had it with the two “choices that aren’t choices”.
If voting for anyone that doesn’t agree with you about everything ‘goes against principles’, everyone should probably just write their own name in.
You have the right idea. The more votes for alternate candidates . There is no point in voting for the lesser of two evils. Both parties supported the bailout of speculators. The 1980s are being repeated in more avenues than just fashion and music. The conniving colluding plunderers get bailed out by their representatives in congress and an industry has been nationalized. Isn’t that what free marketers call socialism? Where’s my money? I could use some too. Gullible knaves most of the populace may be, but as the economy drowns in debt people will have to take notice as it becomes more evident on their pocketbooks. America is staggering, and Rocky will not be able to save us this time.
You have the right idea. Voting for a candidate besides the republican or democratic nominee, adds to the voices in the wilderness campaigning for real change. There is no point in voting for the lesser of two evils. Both parties supported the bailout of speculators. Both parties are supported by the wealthy elites. The 1980s are being repeated in more avenues than just fashion and music. The conniving colluding plunderers get bailed out by their representatives in congress and an industry has been nationalized. I will write in Ron Paul for President. In Pennsylvania we do not get a vote for president. It is a Democrat or nothing.
Anybody voting Republican is throwing their vote away (except for Regan). Vote for anybody other than a Democrat and your vote is thrown away. Each election all the electoral votes in Pennsylvania go to the Democrat.
At least I can let them know I’m pissed by writing in “Ron Paul.” That’s even more of sending a message then an unappreciated Republican sheep vote.

Dallas, Pennsylvania
I’m with you, Art.
RESTORE THE REPUBLIC
You can’t write in Ron Paul, he’s not running anymore. Look into other candidates like Nader or Baldwin. Ron Paul is officlally supporting Baldwin.
Id like to start a movement to all of the scattered independent voters to hone in and pick one candidate to force a change in the ‘lesser of two evils’ voting approach we have become so used to.

Is Ron Paul declared as a write in, in Pennsylvania? If not, they will not even count any write in votes for him. If this is the case I will follow RP’s advice and vote 3rd party. Does anyone know if a write in for Dr. Paul will count in Pennsylvania?
ill defiantly be writing in Ron Paul’s name on the ballot, somebody above said that you only throw your vote away if you vote for obama or McCain, that’s so true, both of them are a couple of idiots that will drive the country into the ground, so i personally couldn’t care less about which one of them gets in the white house, im going to exercise my RIGHT as an American to vote for who i want and thats RON PAUL and nobody else,
If you spend enough time on youtube and myspace you will see that their are TONS of people who say they are going to write in DR. Paul, I would not be at all surprised if he still ends up winning some of the states based on the write in vote.
I also will write in ron paul, I have been on the fence between chuck and ron paul but the good doctor is really one of the only people speaking about this economic problem.
The other parties have done nothing to impress me that they know what is going on.
I will be ignoring the people that want to tell me not to write in Ron Paul. This will be a movement.
I found this page after voting early today. I went in half-heartedly to vote for McCain just to keep Obama out. My feelings are based solely on his lies and in-experience.
it does not help because of the stance on abortion and gun control.
I did not like Clinton either, but at least we faired better as middle class under him. I started a small business in the Clinton years. One of my early clients stated that it was a good time to start a business (under a democrat). I now know what they mean. Luckily in Texas we are not hit too hard yet because of our ties to industry and the petroleum fields.
As for my vote today, at the polls I saw VERY old black women struggling to vote, who MAY have never placed a vote before. Young black mothers holding their children. Players. This seemed to reinforce my training to vote for the lesser of two evils. My thought shamed me internally. Everyone of us just wants a TRUE CHANGE!
In the end my conscience prevailed, as I wrote in Ron Paul.
If only the media and the apathy of the populace did not conspire to negate my vote….At least I will be able to sleep proudly tonight.
I wrote in Ron Paul today. It won’t count (Utah), but I didn’t want to vote Red/Blue (purple anyway), and none of the third party candidates “moved” me. This was my first time voting. 31 years old. I never voted before because of the lesser of two evils, and I could have done it again this time and spared myself 1.5 hours of waiting to get to the machine. But I had to. For myself at the very least. Hey, no one else is looking out for me, certainly not the candidates listed on the ballot, from my point of view. It sucks. Finally got a voice, and no one’s gonna hear it. Oh well, I’ll just yell to myself then. :-/
wrote in ron paul yesterday with absentee. Don’t care if it doesn’t “count”. Someone will read it and know that somebody was fed up with choosing against someone and chose for someone. The way I look at it when the country goes to flames I can proudly say that I stood for revolution, and did not vote for whoever ends up president.
I agree with this and glad I read this the night before the election.
Write in for Ron Paul all the way.
VOTE YES ON 8. =)
I wrote in Ron Paul today too.
I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin.
I had to vote my conscience.
And I did.
In response to post #12, these are the facts: all write-in votes in Pennsylvania will be counted and credited to the chosen candidate whether or not the candidate is on the ballot. This information comes directly from the Lehigh County, PA Voter Registration Office. The information was then confirmed by the PA Department of State, Bureau of Elections (1-717-787-5280). In Pennsylvania, the ballot lists five options for the office of president:
* Obama
* McCain
* Nader
* Barr
* Write-In
If you want to vote for Ron Paul, select write in. In an electronic voting booth, a keyboard will appear. Simply type in the candidate’s name, press enter and YOUR VOTE WILL BE COUNTED.
