It’s not just that Barr “sent condolences” to the family of racist dictator-lover Jess Helms. That would have been fine. No, Barr went so far as to call on ME to “give thanks to God” for the “life and work” — racist life and work — of Jesse Helms. That, I find completely outrageous and absolutely unforgivable.
Barr is a collectivist, anti-intellectual moron who does not understand that Communism was brought down under its own inefficiency — not the deficit spending and Fed-financed fascism of the disastrous Reagan administration. Barr is a pitiful disgrace to the Libertarian Party and libertarianism and I have diminished respect for anyone who continues to support him and call themselves a libertarian.
Bob Barr did not bother to make any sort of statement regarding the recent, tragic death of the great Libertarian Kent Snyder, yet he is deeply mourning the communist fascist and racist Jesse Helms?

Bob Barr probably did not know Kent Snyder so well personally, same with Chuck Baldwin, that also did not make any statement release.
After the tragic passing away of Kent, I had a look at a TV debate in Hawaii, where he was together with a representative of McInsane and Bonito Giuliani and where Kent clearly won. Interestingly enough the different manners reflect those of the candidates they represent pretty well. Kent also mentioned that Jesse Helms endorsed Ron Paul’s book about the Gold standard.
Helms was the “Mr. No” of the senate and also a staunch fiscal conservative like Paul. Like Paul, he also endorsed Reagan in 1976 already.
Of course – like everybody – Helms had his good and bad sides/aspects. Do you think it is appropriate to talk bad about the dead?
How on earth can you say he was a communist, he was one of the staunchest anti-communists as can be.

I agree. It would have been in bad taste if he did. Then the headlines would have been “Bob Barr insults dead congressman.” — Barr’s critics would have gone after him any way, . . . though maybe not the same critics, mind you.
I think you’re being too harsh on Barr. He’s still a bit in his “Saul conversion to Paul” – “conservative to libertarian.
You can denigrate fellow Libertarians like myself who continue to support Barr – since compared to McCain and Obama – Barr is certainly liberty minded. Compared to pure libertarians, no, Barr is a conservative – but Barr’s learning – and he’s a heck of a lot better than statist Obama and warmonger McCain.
As LP candidate, I support Barr. I don’t agree with all his stances, but on a scale of 1 to 10, Barr is a 7. McCain is a 2. Obama isn’t worthy of discussion.
Libertarians supporting Bob Barr should have their heads examined. You all fascinated me during the Ron Paul campaign when many of you refused to re-register Republican because it would betray your party. Now you want people to believe this worn out man that smells of corruption is a libertarian. You must do more to make your man look good, that libertarian blanket sure is not going to cover his past or who he is deep down. Another thing, why the hell did you guys decide to vote for barr as your candidate, are you insane?????
